During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in April, we were able to source 2,500 masks generously donated by the Los Angeles Sanitation Bureau. We were able to distribute them to smaller emergency food nonprofits with the kind help of Food Cycle, Food Forward, Food Finders, and the West Side Regional Food Bank.
While we’re on the topic of PPE’s, LA Sanitation provides useful tips on how to property dispose of protective wear. Workers are seeing gloves and litter around the city on sidewalks, streets, parking lots, parks, storm drains
Last for now, LA Sanitation provided a Facebook update that, along with Mayor Eric Garcetti’s direction, the city aims to achieve 90% landfill diversion by 2025. The department is conducting several pilot programs for the diversion of food waste.
